Job Description

Job Overview: The Regional Patient Access Operations Manager will ensure the efficient operation of patient access services across various healthcare facilities. This role focuses on managing critical functions such as patient registration, insurance verification, payment collection, and delivering excellent customer service. The manager works closely with department leaders and staff to uphold quality standards, ensure compliance, enhance patient satisfaction, and drive performance improvements by tracking key metrics.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with staff, visitors, and colleagues in alignment with the organization’s values.
  • Lead and provide strategic guidance to patient access teams within the region.
  • Hire, train, and mentor department leaders, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Oversee patient access functions, ensuring smooth operations in registration, insurance verification, payment collection, and customer service.
  • Track and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify opportunities for improvement and work with IT teams to implement technology-driven solutions.
  • Promote a patient-first approach by ensuring that all patient interactions are respectful, compassionate, and responsive.
  • Conduct staff evaluations, address performance issues, and resolve operational challenges to improve team effectiveness.
  • Implement initiatives aimed at improving patient access, reducing wait times, and streamlining registration processes for an enhanced patient experience.
  • Serve as the bridge between patient access teams and other departments, ensuring open communication to meet organizational goals.
  • Regularly audit registration and financial data accuracy, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Develop and enforce policies and procedures to optimize operations and ensure regulatory compliance.

Key Competencies:

  • In-depth understanding of healthcare regulations, billing systems, and insurance processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, EHR platforms like EPIC or Cerner, and data analytics.
  • Strong leadership skills, with an emphasis on motivating and managing a diverse team.
  • Advanced decision-making and problem-solving abilities in fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage various stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of progressive leadership experience in patient access, physician practice management, revenue cycle management, or healthcare administration.
