Psychiatrist – Corrections

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Psychiatrist to join a multidisciplinary behavioral health team in a correctional facility located around the Mercer County area. This full-time role offers the opportunity to deliver meaningful psychiatric care to an underserved population in a structured and collaborative setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans for incarcerated individuals.
• Deliver a full range of psychiatric services including medication management, crisis intervention, and psychotherapeutic care.
• Collaborate with psychologists, nurses, social workers, and correctional staff as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with facility and professional standards.
• Participate in treatment planning and quality improvement initiatives.
• Conduct forensic evaluations and support legal documentation when needed.
• Supervise and collaborate with Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs).
• Participate in on-call coverage as assigned.

• Facility operates 24/7; may require occasional evening, weekend, or holiday coverage

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of a U.S.-based residency program in psychiatry.
• Active, unrestricted license to practice psychiatry in New Jersey.
• DEA and CDS certification required.
• Minimum of 1–2 years' experience in psychiatric care; correctional or forensic experience preferred.
• Proficient with electronic medical records and basic computer use.
• CPR certification required.
